4 ANNUAL REPORT 4 ANNUAL REPORT LACCD At-a-Glance Enrollment On an annual basis, LACCD enrolls between 200,000 and 240,000 students. In the 2017–2018 academic year, the District enrolled a total of 230,446 students. Achievement The number of degrees and certificates awarded increased by 6% in the 2017–2018 academic year. LACCD conferred 26,500 awards to students across its nine colleges. Financial Aid Approximately 53% of LACCD students report an income at or below the poverty line. During the 2017–2018 academic year, LACCD disbursed $245,208,194 in financial aid awards, excluding loans. These awards provide higher education access to many students who otherwise cannot afford college. Personal Income On average, LACCD students with an associate degree earn approximately 39% more than those who only hold a high school diploma. Diversity LACCD is the leading educator of Latinx and African- American students in California. LACCD educates nearly two times more Latinx students and two times more African-American students than all of the University of California campuses combined. Veterans During the 2017–2018 academic school year, LACCD awarded 383 associate degrees and 378 certificates to Veterans. LACCD currently enrolls more than 4,000 Veterans at its nine colleges. Nursing Currently, seven of LACCD’s nine colleges offer Associate of Science degrees in Nursing. In the 2017–2018 academic year, 409 awards were granted in Nursing. Most LACCD graduates consistently pass the California Board of Registered Nursing licensing exam the first time. Apprenticeship & Union Employer Training Union training programs provide individual workforce training opportunities in addition to yielding significant public benefits. Los Angeles Trade-Technical College is one of the largest apprenticeship providers within the Los Angeles County area.
