Foundation for the Los Angeles Community Colleges 22 ANNUAL REPORT The Foundation is the key fundraising and philanthropic organization of the LACCD. Its mission is to create public awareness and secure funding to provide financial assistance and broad-based community support for the District, its nine colleges, students, faculty, staff and programs. The Foundation and its Board envisions a future where all individuals seeking to broaden their knowledge and skills have access to higher education regardless of their socio-economic background, citizenship or immigration status. By removing barriers to education, the Foundation helps students achieve their dreams of a quality college education with a two-year degree, professional certificate, or transfer to a four-year institution. For more information, visit: laccd.edu/about/foundation In July 2018, the Foundation produced the District’s first-ever fundraising special event benefitting the Dream Resource Centers at the nine LACCD colleges. As part of the event, a surprise announcement was made to unveil the “Chancellor Francisco C. Rodriguez and Vicky Chang Community College Transfer Scholarship Fund.” The Foundation is honored to have its first legacy donor, Mike Rose. The future gift will benefit students at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College. “Los Angeles Trade-Technical College is one of the educational gems in Southern California, and that is why I have made it the beneficiary of my Trust. Trade-Tech serves one of the poorest populations in Los Angeles County. The school provides opportunity to young people at the beginning of their adult lives and to people in the middle of their working lives. I know from where and how I grew up and from the teaching and research I’ve done how opportunity like this makes the difference between a life of dead ends and a life of possibility. That is why I believe so firmly in the mission of Los Angeles Trade-Technical College.” If you are interested in being a legacy donor, please contact Michael Fuller at (213) 891-2376.
